I went fishing in the Everglades today. We strapped a canoe on this tiny car and rowed around in alligator infested waters. Seriously we canoed past dozens of them. Fortunately they sleep in the afternoon. We caught about 5 or 6 fish, then the alligators started to inhabit our fishing area, and we didn’t catch […]

I haven’t ridden three in a truck in years, and let’s just say it’s as great as I remember it. I bought a fishing pole for 18.95 and we went fishing on Card Sound but didn’t catch anything. Next time we’ll bring a boat.

I’ve been volunteering at the Everglades Youth Hostel in Florida City for a couple weeks now. The city doesn’t have much, but the hostel is great and it’s just a few miles to the keys and the Everglades. I’ve met lots of cool people from all over the world. Below is the backyard. I’m sitting […]

I took a canoe trip through the mangroves at John Pennekamp State Park in Key Largo, FL. It was nice, but a bit short. We lasted about an hour and finished the trail. Canoing was $12/hr.

I made another trip to the Everglades. These birds were definitely up to no good.

Back from Disney I made a stop in West Palm Beach to see what the hype was about. The city was filled with mansions, nice cars, expensive stores, and old people. It was interesting to see, but boring to stay.

I got pressured into going to Disney World. It was fun, but I was a bit disgusted by Disney’s ability to charge $2.50 for a can of soda, and $5.95 for the worst hot dog I’ve ever had. Seriously, how hard is it to make a decent hot dog? Gas stations have $1 hot dogs […]

I spent New Years Eve in Key West with some friends from Michigan. A friend from Muskegon has a condo in Marathon and we booked the worst $250 hotel I’ve ever stayed in at Key West. We hung out at Duval Street during the day and got to Sloppy Joe’s around 8. Most people got […]
