Seattle

I have lived in Seattle for a couple summers but have always left as soon as the rain starts. It’s a nice city, with educated people and lots of transplants from the Midwest and California.  Like most west coast cities there’s plenty of Asian people and Asian food. Currently Thai and Japanese restaurants are the most trendy. As a tourist destination Seattle’s good for a few days before venturing off into the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest.
Here’s the Seattle skyline taken from Kerry Park. I would often go there at night to see the sunset. On a clear day Mt Rainier can be seen.

The Seattle fish market is one of the best tourist destinations. They’re known for throwing the fish, and sometimes hitting tourists with a fake toy fish. However, if nobody buys a fish it might take a little time to see a fish get thrown.

The Seattle Public Library is very futuristic, although a bit sterile, and even neon green in parts. I’ve been there a few times, but mostly just to show people around. They do have free internet and wireless.

Sailboats dominate the Puget Sound and the lakes of Seattle during the summer. I’m hanging out at Golden Gardens Park. I tried swimming but the Sound is always very cold. The park is quite nice.

Famous Public Market sign in downtown Seattle. I worked around the corner in the Seattle Youth Hostel. The first Starbucks is in Pikes Market, but I don’t drink coffee. I’m more of a juice guy.

I lived a few blocks from Green Lake. In the summer it’s a great place to hang out. Lots of young people and a 3 mile running track around the lake.

I always go to baseball games in Seattle. The stadium is a bit south of downtown. I’ll either take a bus or park in the International District. A train runs by the stadium and blows its whistle several times every game. Very loud. Japanese baseball fans congregate around right field to catch a glimpse of Ichiro.

Dicks Burgers. Pretty good food and cheap. I’ve never seen people work so hard at a fast food place. I think it’s mostly teenagers and they get paid fairly good for the job.
