Osaka

I made a trip to Osaka in March. It was a bit cold, but no snow. I was cheap and took an overnight bus for about 5000 yen ($45) rather than the Shinkansen (fast train)

It was interesting stopping in small towns along the way. I ate some expensive gas station food. A common snack is rice with seaweed wrapped around it.

They say the signs are bigger in Osaka and the running man advertisement has become a symbol of Osaka

This is America Town. They have American clothes, Mcdonalds, and even garbage on the ground! It actually did feel a bit like America.

I watched a sumo match. It was fun at first, but then became really boring because there’s about 60 seconds of action and 2 hours of fanfare. I was able to walk around backstage and see the wrestlers warming up. They were huge and much taller than most Japanese people. There are sumo wrestlers from across the world including Russia, Bulgaria, and Mongolia.
