I took a cheap flight from Krakow to Berlin for about $20. At the airport I saw the scariest man I’ve ever seen. He was about 7 feet tall and muscular. I think he was a bodyguard and got off a plane that flew in from one of the Soviet republics. I got into the city at night and met a friend at a bar where the prices changed like the stock market. It was kind of exciting, but not too exciting.
The next day I took a free tour of the city. Lots of history including the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie. Later that night I did a pub crawl with a bunch of drunk British girls. On the last stop they drove us across town. By the time we left we had no idea where we were, so we hopped on a train and rode around for awhile.
