Mdina the ancient capital of The Maltese Archipelago is separated from its twin Rabat by ramparts and fortifications which are even today one of Mdina top attractions. Originally, Mdina and Rabat actually formed only one city, Melita. The latter has been stormed several times during its existence by the Arabs, Normans, and Spaniards.
